Cardboard Furniture & Installations

DESCRIPTION:

In today’s “throw away” society these products show how one man’s trash can become another man’s treasure. Through adding value by design cardboard sheets, tubes and containers was transformed into useful product through up cycling.

Cardboard containers used to package printer tones were made into chairs. Two chairs structures were cut from one container ensuring minimum wastage. The seats of the chairs were made by stacking layers of cardboard sheets together.

Recycled boxes were made into sheets, from which different shapes were cut and suspended from the ceiling to create the illusion and experience of a forest roof and to act as acoustic panels,

The cardboard tube cores of plotting paper were where used to create light casings as well as a tree structure for the theatre set of circles in a forest. Larger cylindrical cardboard tubes were used to create light diffusers or gobos for stage lighting

Offcuts of acrylic sheeting and laser cutting were employed to create connector pieces for the tree structures and covers for the lights and patterns for the diffusors.
